Alexandre de Moraes demands clarification regarding the operation in Rio and summons Governor Cláudio Castro for a hearing.

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has ordered Rio de Janeiro Governor Cláudio Castro to provide detailed explanations regarding Operation Containment , which, according to the Rio de Janeiro Public Defender's Office, resulted in at least 132 deaths in the Alemão and Penha favela complexes in the northern part of the state capital.
The operation also generated strong reactions from public figures , including Fátima Bernardes , Bruna Marquezine, and Xamã , who used social media to express outrage and sorrow over the tragedy.
The hearing was scheduled for November 3rd , in Rio de Janeiro itself, and should include representatives from the state government, the Public Prosecutor's Office , and entities linked to human rights . The decision was announced on Wednesday (29) and is part of the ADPF das Favelas , a process that seeks to reduce police lethality in communities in the state.
Operation leaves a trail of deaths and outrage among the population.
According to a report released by the security forces, 58 people died in a confrontation with the police , four police officers also lost their lives and dozens of bodies were found in a wooded area in the Penha Complex. The operation, carried out last Tuesday (28), aimed to execute 180 search and seizure warrants and 100 arrest warrants , 30 of which were issued by the state of Pará. According to the government, the action sought to contain the expansion of the Comando Vermelho criminal faction.
