New 7Mares Family Health Unit begins operations in Portimão

The new Family Health Unit (USF) 7Mares, located in the Portimão Health Center, began operating on Monday, June 16, reinforcing the capacity of Primary Health Care in the western Algarve .
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Algarve Local Health Unit (ULS) , Tiago Botelho, stated that “this unit represents an important reinforcement in the response capacity of Primary Health Care (CSP) in the western Algarve”.
“I would like to express my special thanks to all the professionals who, directly or indirectly, were involved in the implementation of this project. I also acknowledge the important role of Portimão City Council, in the person of its Mayor, Álvaro Bila, whose institutional support and collaboration were crucial in making this new health response possible,” he added.
USF 7Mares is made up of a team of 7 doctors, 7 nurses and 5 technical assistants, prepared to monitor around 12,500 users.
“This new unit reinforces accessibility, continuity and quality of care provided to the population, in line with the principles of proximity and efficiency that guide the actions of ULS Algarve”, can be read in the press release sent by ULS Algarve.
The USF is coordinated by physician David de Lima Marques, who leads a multidisciplinary team strongly committed to providing care focused on the needs of citizens.
The start of operations of USF 7Mares is part of the national strategy for reorganizing Primary Health Care, promoting models with greater organizational autonomy and a clear focus on proximity to the user.
