Faro promoted heart health with «Heart in Good Hands»

A health literacy session entitled “Heart in Good Hands” took place on Wednesday, May 28, in the Main Hall of Faro City Council .
The Social Intervention and Participatory Policies Division of the Municipality of Faro, in partnership with the Health in Dialogue Platform , organized this action, which is part of a set of initiatives to promote health literacy and disease prevention, organized by the municipality.
Under the motto “Heart in Good Hands”, the initiative had the participation of Carlos Filipe, a doctor specializing in General and Family Medicine, who shared knowledge and practical guidance on how to take care of cardiovascular health.
At the end, participants also had access to free cardiovascular screenings, organized by the Algarve Biomedical Center ( ABC ).
The initiative was part of the celebrations of “May – Heart Month” and its main objective was to raise awareness in the community about the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, encouraging the adoption of healthy lifestyles, as has been the case on other occasions, which are already important moments of awareness, carried out in an accessible, informal and close environment, with the support of health professionals and patient associations.
The municipality of Faro “thus reaffirms its commitment to promoting the health and well-being of the population”, points out the local authority.
