World Bank survey will hear from Brazilian entrepreneurs and drive improvements in the business environment

*With information from the World Bank.

Brazilian entrepreneurs face many challenges every day to keep their businesses afloat. Among the main ones are bureaucracy, high taxes, and difficult access to credit. To better understand these difficulties and change this reality, the World Bank is conducting the Enterprise Surveys in Brazil, a study that aims to gather concrete data on the country's business environment.

This survey is carried out in more than 150 countries and is being applied in Brazil. A representative sample of around 1,800 companies will be invited to participate, including companies from the Trade and Services sectors. .

Using a standardized methodology and to learn everything that impacts day-to-day business, Enterprise Surveys collects information directly from business owners and managers on topics such as regulations and infrastructure. This data is essential to support economic reforms, guide more effective public policies and attract investments that benefit the Services and Commerce sector.

In addition to highlighting the main obstacles faced by Brazilian companies, the study also allows for a comparison of the situation in Brazil with that of other countries and between regions, offering a broad view on how to improve competitiveness and the business environment.

Data helps identify priority areas for government interventions and promotes good practices.

New methodology

With the publication of the new Business Ready report, launched by the World Bank in 2024, the Enterprise Surveys began to be applied with a fixed frequency of every four years, with updated indicators and a more comprehensive approach. The current edition will gather information from different regions, company sizes and sectors of the Brazilian economy.

In Brazil, the research is being carried out by the institutions Oppen Social and Kampo Brasil, through interviews with businesspeople and managers randomly selected from a statistical sample. The selected companies will be contacted directly with an invitation to participate in the study. .

According to the World Bank, the results of the Enterprise Surveys also serve to monitor the impact of public policies over time, in addition to encouraging debate based on reliable and transparent data. By contributing to the survey, entrepreneurs help to build an accurate portrait of the Brazilian production sector, strengthening their representation in decisions that directly affect their business.
