Wall Street starts in 'green'

New York begins the last session of the week in positive territory, with investors eagerly awaiting the meeting between US and Chinese trade authorities on tariffs.

The Dow Jones index increases 0.26% to 41,475.76 points, the S&P500 gains 0.30% to 5,681.50 points and the Nasdaq rises 0.60% to 18,032.13 points.

Chevron is up 1.11%, Boeing is up 1.03%, Goldman Sachs is up 0.88% and Apple is up 0.59%. In the opposite direction, Honeywell is down 0.78%, Home Depot is down 0.73%, Walmart is down 0.43% and Coca-Cola is down 0.31%.

Millennium Investment Banking market analyst Ramiro Loureiro says that “Wall Street is off to a strong start, extending the gains of recent sessions, driven by signs that the US is beginning to reach an understanding with its partners to avoid or reduce trade tariffs”.

“The corporate accounts calendar is leading to some more disparate reactions, with positive highlights for the surges in Trade Desk, Pinterest, Lyft and Microchip, contrasting with significant drops in Expedia and Affirm,” says the analyst.

In the oil market, Texas WTI gained 1.02%, setting the price per barrel at $60.52, and Brent rose 0.86% to $63.38. Natural gas rose 4.84% to $3.766.

In the foreign exchange market, the euro appreciated 0.33% against the dollar, settling at 1.1265 dollars.
