Wall Street opens last session in the green

New York opened the session trading in positive territory, with investors digesting companies' quarterly earnings, which point to optimism in the North American economy.
The Dow Jones index advances 0.10% to 44,527.07 points, the S&P500 increases 0.17% to 6,308.63 points and the Nasdaq gains 0.40% to 20,975.18 points.
Chevron rose 1.81%, J&J gained 0.69%, Travelers rose 0.47%, Cisco added 0.48%, and Amgen advanced 0.40%. Countercyclically, American Express lost 2.12%, Walt Disney fell 0.52%, Walmart slipped 0.28%, and JPMorgan fell 0.12%.
Millennium Investment Banking market analyst Ramiro Loureiro states that " Wall Street is off to a strong start, in a session marked by reactions to some corporate reports, with a weak response to Netflix's numbers, contrasting with the enthusiasm for Interactive Brokers, 3M, and Charles Schwabb. In the oil sector, Chevron won the battle with Exxon Mobil to buy Hess Corp., more than 20 months after announcing the acquisition, while Schlumberger posted better-than-expected results."
In the oil market, Texas-based WTI rose 1.15%, setting the price per barrel at $68.35, and Brent rose 1.05% to $70.26. Natural gas gained 1.67% to $3.601.
In the foreign exchange market, the euro appreciated 0.53% against the dollar, settling at 1.1655 dollars.
