Pre-trial detention for suspect of abusing a teenager

A man was placed in pre-trial detention with an electronic bracelet after being arrested by the Judiciary Police (PJ) on suspicion of sexually abusing a teenager in Torres Vedras, a statement announced this Wednesday. The investigation stemmed from a complaint filed with the PJ by the victim's mother.
According to the PJ, the events took place between October 2024 and February 2025, at the residence of the attacker, a 40-year-old man, who had maintained, since 2022, a friendly relationship with the family of the victim, a 14-year-old teenager.
The two families maintained a close relationship with frequent visits and joint gatherings in both their homes.
“The consolidation of this friendship meant that the victim's parents began to entrust their daughter to the care of the attacker on numerous occasions, with her staying overnight at their home on several occasions from September 2024 onwards,” the PJ described.
According to this police investigation force, "taking advantage of a position of clear trust, authority and influence, the suspect seduced the minor, leading her to commit various acts of a sexual nature ."
The investigation culminated in searches of the suspect's residence and his arrest.
