INSS announces return of amounts discounted from April pensions

The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) will return, between May and June, the amounts blocked relating to monthly payments of associations of retirees and pensioners in April. The money was withheld after the revelation of a scheme that carried out the discounts without the authorization of the beneficiaries .

In total, 292.7 million reais will be returned, corresponding to the last month alone. All discounts were canceled and the INSS did not release the funds to the entities.

As the current payroll had already been processed, the refund will be made in a staggered manner, in the May payroll, which will be paid between May 26 and June 6, according to the usual benefit payment dates.

Values ​​discounted in other months

The April amounts will be refunded regardless of the beneficiaries' wishes. The procedure for money discounted in previous months and years will be different.

Starting next week, the INSS will notify all people who had funds withdrawn to pay membership fees. From then on, the beneficiaries themselves must say whether or not they authorized the deductions so that, if necessary, they can begin the process to get the money back.

Notifications will be made exclusively through the Meu INSS app, starting Tuesday the 13th . Official information will not be released through other channels. Starting Wednesday the 14th, also through the app or by calling 135, retirees and pensioners must inform whether or not they have authorized the discounts.

The Meu INSS app is available for free download for Android or iOS devices (such as iPhone cell phones).

According to official information, 27 million beneficiaries did not receive any discount. These beneficiaries will start to be notified immediately, also through the Meu INSS app.

Each person who received discounts will receive individualized information, highlighting the amounts, to which entity and for how long, if applicable. If the citizen confirms that they authorized the discounts, nothing will happen. If they say they did not authorize them, the INSS itself will contact the associative entity.
