Housekeeper indicted after posting photo on social media wearing dress stolen from her boss in MG

A 46-year-old cleaning lady was indicted for theft in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, after showing off on social media wearing one of the expensive dresses stolen from her employer's house. The items had been missing since January, but the owner of the house – a 38-year-old businesswoman – didn't suspect her employee. That was until the cleaning lady herself posted photos on her page showing off one of the clothes she had stolen.

The suspect's name was not released, which made it impossible to contact her defense.

The Civil Police of Minas Gerais carried out Operation Makeup to comply with a search and seizure warrant at the house of the maid, in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood. Jewelry, clothes, accessories and beauty products belonging to the employer were found in the property.

The value of the goods could reach R$700,000, according to police estimates, as there were designer items, expensive perfumes and jewelry among the stolen goods. The recovered products will be returned to their owners.

According to the investigation, the thefts had been occurring since January, gradually and in small quantities, which made it difficult for the victim to immediately detect that the objects were missing. When she noticed that her belongings were repeatedly missing, she decided to file a police report.

The Civil Police officer who investigated the case began checking the social networks of people who frequented the victim's house. That was when he came across photos of the cleaner wearing a piece of clothing that was described as among the stolen goods.

The woman was not arrested, but could be charged with the crime of qualified theft.

The name of the operation refers to the suspect's attempt to "cover up" the facts. According to the police, over the months, the woman used the trust she had gained with her employer to create stories, even suggesting that the thefts could have been committed by other people who frequented the house.
