CP's long-distance ticket inspectors will go on strike next week.

The Railway Union of Itinerant Commercial Inspectors (SFRCI) has issued a pre-strike notice for partial strike action on CP's long-distance trains, between November 3rd and 13th. The inspectors' union denounced the breach of labor agreements and lack of safety conditions.
In a statement, SFRCI recalled the agreement signed on July 25, 2023 with CP – Comboios de Portugal, which provided, among other things, for the humanization of the service schedules of ticket inspectors.
The union says the agreement remains unfulfilled and denounced "serious safety issues" that it has brought to the company's attention, "without any response."
As an example, he cites cases where the size of the trains exceeds that of the boarding and disembarking platforms at the stations, and overcrowding on trains, situations that "endanger the safety of users and workers."
“Two years and three months (27 months) later, the CP Board of Directors continues to fail to fully comply with what was agreed, maintaining practices in some service schedules that contradict the commitment made,” the union pointed out.
According to the Lusa news agency, the SFRCI leadership stated that it had done "everything" during that period to ensure the agreement was fully implemented, but "the CP Board of Directors has repeatedly refused to conclude the process, showing disrespect for the workers and the commitments made."
Regarding safety issues, the union cites complaints from operational workers about "various problems in the carriages used on Intercidades trains, resulting from deficient workshop maintenance and excessive use of rolling stock."
"The situation is aggravated by the use of Arco carriages, which are not compatible with the Corail and EMEF carriages usually employed in this type of service," he explained.
