Among the highlights of this Friday is the debate and vote in Parliament on the Nationality Law and the reduction of personal income tax. Abroad, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and National Defence will attend the EPP conference “Protecting Europe: facing the threats of today and tomorrow”.

Immigration and IRS reduction in Parliament

This Friday, members of the Assembly of the Republic will debate and vote on the Government's proposal on the Nationality Law and the reduction of the IRS. Among the projects is the amendment of the Nationality Law to restrict Portuguese nationality and ensure the possibility of its loss in certain cases. As well as the creation of the National Unit for Foreigners and Borders, in the Public Security Police.

Castro Almeida and Pinto Luz debate the Land Law

The Ministers of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida, and Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, will participate this Friday in the Conference “Land Law: Amendments to the RJIGT – Legal Framework for Territorial Management Instruments – Challenges and Opportunities”. The session will take place at AICCOPN – Association of Civil Construction and Public Works Industry, in Porto.

Trump signs controversial tax package

After being approved by both chambers of the US Congress, the fiscal package in the United States – dubbed the “Big and Beautiful Law” by Donald Trump – will be signed by US President Donald Trump on the 4th of July holiday, during Independence Day celebrations.

How is the economy here?

This Friday, the Bank of Portugal (BPStat) will release data on housing credit for May this year, as well as interest rates and amounts of new loans and deposits. The National Statistics Institute (INE) will publish provisional data for 2024 on industrial production and the price index for the production of services for the first quarter of 2025.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, and the Minister of National Defence, Nuno Melo, are taking part in the conference “Protecting Europe: facing the threats of today and tomorrow”, an initiative of the Group of the European People’s Party (EPP) in the European Parliament. This meeting brings together political decision-makers, experts and institutional representatives to discuss strategies for strengthening the external borders of the European Union (EU), “preventing radicalisation and terrorism – strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation in the EU”.
