Red Cloud welcomes “La Muerte de Don Cristobal”

On September 20th, a Saturday, at 7 pm, the Red Cloud Teatro de Marionetas company, from Aveiro, will present, at its headquarters on Rua Hintze Ribeiro, the show “La Muerte de Don Cristobal”, for those over six years old and included in the Motus Imago program, in an international edition and dedicated to traditional European puppetry forms.

The guest is the "Compagnie Pelele" from France. Regarding the plot on "stage," it should be noted that the miserly, ugly, evil, and unscrupulous Don Cristobal lives only to continue increasing his already considerable fortune. But his poor, jealous, and even uglier maid will invent a thousand and one tricks to get his money.

Following the traditional technique of Mediterranean puppet theater, but with a rhythm and aesthetic closer to cartoons, "The Death of Don Cristobal" tells the universal story of the will to live, where humor, energy, and caricature transcend fear and violence. Red Cloud Puppet Theatre is funded by the Portuguese Government through the Ministry of Culture/Directorate-General for the Arts for the 2025/2026 biennium. Its activities and events are supported by the Municipality of Aveiro.

Compagnie Pelele

Paz Tatay is a puppeteer who worked with string puppets for several years. In 1996, she founded Compagnie Pelele in Toulouse, and all of Pelele's shows are designed with one goal in mind: to conceive shows as places of encounter, ritual, and catharsis.

Through aesthetic care and a strong connection with popular theater, Pelele creates energetic shows that transport audiences to a world of surprises and emotions—an absurd and magical world where puppets are the main actors. Quality manipulation, rhythm, and comic tension are top priorities, and the music and sound effects are always performed live. Pelele has performed throughout Europe, Quebec, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina, and will be arriving in Aveiro in September.

The show is presented at Red Cloud headquarters, for ages six and older.
