PS, PSD and PCP discuss electoral data internally
  • The PS National Political Commission will analyze the results of the local elections today and discuss its position on the State Budget for 2026 (OE2026), a document that will also be analyzed in a meeting between the socialist leader and the parliamentary group.

According to an official PS source who told Lusa, the PS general secretary, José Luís Carneiro, will have a meeting with the leadership of the parliamentary group at the end of the morning, followed by a meeting at 6:00 pm with PS deputies in the Assembly of the Republic to discuss the party's position on the OE2026, whose openness to implementation was expressed during the election campaign period.

This evening, at Largo do Rato, in Lisbon, the PS National Political Committee will meet to discuss not only the 2026 State Budget but also to analyze the election results from Sunday's local elections.

  • The core of the PSD leadership, the permanent committee, will meet this morning in Lisbon, two days after the party's electoral victory in Sunday's local elections.

According to a press release, the National Permanent Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. at a hotel in Lisbon, with Leonor Beleza, the party's first vice-president, expected to make a statement to the press at the end.

This body includes the president of the PSD and also prime minister, Luís Montenegro, the six 'vices' of the party, the secretary-general and parliamentary leader Hugo Soares and, as a guest, the national municipal coordinator Pedro Alves.

Although no topic was indicated for the press conference, the meeting takes place two days after Sunday's local elections, which the PSD won.

  • The PCP is meeting its Central Committee today to analyze the results of the local elections, in which the CDU lost councils again, leaving it with only 12 municipalities and no district capitals.

The conclusions of the meeting will be presented at a press conference by the general secretary of the PCP, Paulo Raimundo, at 6:00 pm at the party's national headquarters in Lisbon.

In addition to the results of Sunday's local elections, communist leaders will also assess the social and political situation and the PCP's tasks.

  • Good morning, we'll be following current national political developments following Sunday's local elections, with three parties—PSD, PS, and PCP—convening their national committees to analyze the results. You can relive yesterday's action in this other live article.
