President of Gondomar once again requests suspension of mandate

The president of Transportes Metropolitanos do Porto (TMP), Marco Martins, requested, following this position he assumed in February, the renewal of the suspension of his mandate as mayor of Gondomar until October, he confirmed this Monday to Lusa.
This request for suspension of mandate, which is the third, will go to a council meeting next Wednesday, according to the agenda that Lusa had access to this Monday.
Marco Martins, who took office as Gondomar City Councilor in 2013, is currently serving his final term and is ineligible to run again for another term. Local elections are scheduled for October 12th.
With the departure of Marco Martins to TMP, the leadership of the Gondomar municipality, in the Porto district, was assumed by the then vice-president, Luís Filipe Araújo.
The socialist was unanimously elected president of the TMP on September 27, obtaining the votes of the 12 mayors present at the Metropolitan Council meeting.
