Portimão invites you to “Take a Walk Through History” with an exhibition in Praça Teixeira Gomes

The Group of Friends of the Portimão Museum presents, at Praça Manuel Teixeira Gomes, the exhibition «Walking through the History of the Stories of Portimão», from 6 pm on Saturday, August 2nd.
This is the ninth edition of the street exhibition project "Walking Through History," which began in 2017 and is a genuine invitation to discover Portimão, its history, the uniqueness of its places, its people, its heritage, and the key aspects that have shaped this territory and its society.
"Walking through the History of Portimão's Stories" is a proposal that seeks to recall some of these moments and show new stories, about the stories of Portimão.
Through the various panels, the exhibition presents a set of images, where visitors will learn about and explore the beginnings of the intense associative, maritime, industrial, rural, commercial and tourist life that shaped the municipality of Portimão, fixing in memory the urban and social landscape of Portimão, from the old Vila Nova, to the present day.
This exhibition "seeks to strengthen the identity of the Portimão community, by valuing the city and the municipality, as a cultural and leisure destination, providing residents and tourists, in an informal way, an unexpected encounter, a relaxed and unexpected visual journey, with the different aspects of the historical evolution of Portimão", points out the municipality.
This exhibition is promoted by the Group of Friends of the Portimão Museum, in close collaboration with the Portimão Parish Council , the Museum and the Portimão City Council , and will be on display until 21 September.
