Miguel Araújo, Áurea and Os Quatro e Meia at the premiere of the Fura Festival in Ovar

The municipality of Ovar launches the Fura beach festival on the 15th, which will bring Miguel Araújo, Aurea and Os Quatro e Meia to Furadouro beach, also integrating nautical experiences, street theater, tours and urban art.
According to the municipality, the event lasts three days and all initiatives are free of charge, although some require prior registration to control capacity.
"The Fura Festival aims to be a strong brand, capable of leveraging the municipality's entire summer offering and consolidating Ovar as a premier destination during this period," said Domingos Silva, Mayor.
The mayor said that the festival is the result of "work that has been thought out, tested and structured over the last few years" and then "designed based on the territory's natural attractions and its most genuine traditions and experiences," which culminated in a "plural, dynamic and very attractive" cultural program.
In total, the Fura Festival features more than 40 activities for different ages. Highlights include the evening concerts, which will headline the aforementioned Portuguese musicians but will always be preceded by local artists, specifically Flaviana Borges, Rui Oliveira, and Cátia Gonçalves.
As for street arts, performances by Enano Clown, Karcocha and Thorsten Grütjen have been announced, as well as the presentation of the shows “MANInFESTAÇÃO”, by the collective Sol D'Alma, and “Sem Lugar”, by Companhia Vareira.
The first edition of the event also includes the creation of an urban art mural in which artist Bárbara R. will guide the work of the local community interested in participating in the project.
For the rest of the day, the festival offers surfing, bodyboarding, surfskating and longboarding sessions at sea, and, on land, guided bike tours, go-kart circuits and yoga, zumba and dance classes – along with inflatables for children, an urban market (only Saturday and Sunday) and an environmental clean-up on the beach (to be held on the local sands on Sunday morning).
