Great little artists shined at the Cineteatro Messias with Escolíadas Júnior

The Messias Cinema Theatre, in Mealhada, recently hosted six sessions of the Junior Schools, where around 700 students from the 1st cycle of the Mealhada School Group took to the stage to present the show “Once upon a time... an UNsustainable journey”.

In the show, which was the result of months of work, rehearsals and a lot of dedication, the students demonstrated their value in the areas of dramatic expression, music, dance and visual arts.

Through an imaginary journey, the little ones were able, in a creative and fun way, to raise awareness about serious issues such as sustainability and environmental preservation.

The event was attended by official entities, including the Mayor of Mealhada, António Jorge Franco, and the Head of the Cultural Promotion Division of the CCDRC – Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Center, Dr. Sandra Lopes.

The Mayor highlighted the essential role of the Junior Schools in the artistic and civic education of children: “It is a great source of pride to see this beautiful and important show being held here, in our municipality. This moment is due to the commitment of the Schools, but also to the tireless work of the Mealhada School Group”.

The Escolíadas Júnior project, promoted by the Escolíadas Association, has the support of the Mealhada Municipal Council and its mission is to foster a taste for the arts and develop skills such as creativity, critical thinking, team spirit and respect for others and the environment, from childhood.

In September, the Escolíadas Júnior project returns, this time in another group of schools, bringing new children, new stories and new stages.
