Emily in Paris assistant director dies on set in Italy

The assistant director of the fifth season of "Emily in Paris", Diego Borella, died last Friday night (23) during the filming of the series, in Venice.

According to reports, the tragedy occurred around 7 pm (local time), when he was preparing to film the last scenes at the historic Danieli hotel and allegedly suffered a cardiac arrest.

The medical team on the set tried to revive him, but were unsuccessful. "Our ambulance arrived at 6:42 p.m. (Thursday night). Doctors tried to resuscitate him. But ultimately, all efforts were unsuccessful. Around 7:30 p.m., he was pronounced dead," reads a statement from the Venice Health Service.

Borella, 47, was a renowned Venetian professional trained in Rome, London, and New York. Besides film, his work also encompassed the visual arts and literature, a newly discovered field where he dedicated himself to poetry and writing fables and children's stories.

Following the tragedy, filming for "Emily in Paris" was temporarily suspended. Filming was expected to finish this week.
