University of Aveiro Alumni Association celebrates its 35th anniversary

The Alumni Association of the University of Aveiro (AAAUA), founded on July 5, 1990, celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, on the same day of its public deed. The session, scheduled for 7:30 pm, will take place at the Rectory Building of the University of Aveiro. The recent statutory review, carried out following approval at the general assembly of April 11, 2023, was also published on July 5, 2023, with a Public Deed of the new Statutes having been drawn up at the Notary Office of Ílhavo. The celebrations include the awarding of new honorary membership titles to João Veloso, Miguel Casal and Fatinha Ramos. Five awards will also be given for the Best Activity and the Best Group (within the scope of the alumni groups' activities) and the Collaboration, Institution and Recognition Awards, related to the association's interaction with partners and stakeholders in the region. Pedro Oliveira, president of AAAUA, highlighted “the coherence of this program, starting with the date of its implementation, which respects history”, as well as “the awards that have been established - in the same categories - since 2023 and the awarding of new honorary members who also follow the same criteria of valuing the institutional, business and social responsibility areas, with a concern for gender equality”. He highlighted that, of the 12 new honorary members, achieved during the terms of his board, 42 percent are women. This day will also be marked by the launch of issue no. 30 of “Antiguinho”, in a supplement included in the Diário de Aveiro and distributed on the same day. The leader also took the opportunity to “appeal to everyone’s mobilisation, for a programme that will include a dinner served in the atrium of the UA Rectorate, a different place, for the meeting of the Alumni Community, its partners and institutional representatives, in an atmosphere of conviviality and celebration”.
