Two men aged 56 and 61 were arrested in Bombarral on July 15 on suspicion of drug trafficking, in an operation led by the Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) of Caldas da Rainha, reported the GNR's Leiria Territorial Command.
The arrests resulted from an investigation that had been ongoing for approximately five months and included two searches — one at a home and the other on a property — in which 535 doses of cannabis, a digital scale, and several bags used to package the drug were seized.
According to the same source, the 61-year-old suspect already had an arrest warrant for the same crime. "The warrant was executed, and the detainee remained at the Guarda facilities until his first judicial interrogation at the Leiria Judicial Court," he said.
The other suspect, aged 56, was named as a defendant, and the facts were also referred to the Leiria Judicial Court.
The operation was reinforced by the Technical Support Unit (NAT) of the Leiria Territorial Command and the Bombarral Territorial Post.
