Sabugal – Man arrested for possession of prohibited weapon with seizure of pyrotechnic articles

The GNR, through the Soito Territorial Post, arrested a 33-year-old man for possession of a prohibited weapon and seized several pyrotechnic articles, in the municipality of Sabugal , on June 30.

Following a complaint regarding the possession of various pyrotechnic articles, the Guard 's military personnel carried out police investigations that enabled the suspect to be identified. During the operation, a house search was carried out resulting in the arrest of the suspect and the seizure of 440 grams of black powder (a prohibited weapon), six balloons, 18 rockets, five rocket motors (some including firecrackers) and 15 boxes of pyrotechnic material.

The detainee was charged and the facts were reported to the Guarda Judicial Court.

The operation was reinforced by an Explosive Ordinance Disposal ( EOD) Team from the Guarda Territorial Command, which collected and transported the pyrotechnic material, with a view to carrying out the necessary expertise.
