Project developed digital solution to monitor Barroso

The project's results were presented on the 5th at Boticas Parque, and Aquavalor researchers showcased prototypes developed with the digital environmental monitoring and management solution in the area classified as a World Agricultural Heritage Site by the FAO. Aquavalor researchers involved in the project developed a system that utilizes high-precision sensor technologies, 5G mobile communications, data analytics, and artificial intelligence.

Once designed and implemented, four sensors were placed at different locations in the municipalities of Boticas and Montalegre, recording various air, water, and soil quality parameters. The solution is important for environmental and land management, and for agricultural and livestock producers. Another objective was to align the GIAHS (Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems) seal with the industrial and extractive activities in Barroso.

Access to most VTM news is (still) free, but it's not free; journalism costs money and requires investment. This contribution is a way to directly support A Voz de Trás-os-Montes and its journalists. Our counterpart is independent and local journalism, but not only that. It means continuing to inform despite all contingencies; we never stop for a single day.
