1. If you're in Sines, take advantage of the weekend to visit the 7th edition of the MAR Street Arts Exhibition, organized by Teatro do Mar and dedicated to street performing arts. Starting this Friday, the 12th, and running until Sunday, the 14th, you're invited to discover 20 artistic projects from nine different countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, the United Kingdom, and Japan), featuring circus, theater, dance, art installations, and interactive games. This Friday, the program begins at 6:30 pm at Largo Poeta Bocage, with the circus show High Tea (With a Twist) , produced by the all-female company Levantes Dance Theatre. The shows take place in public spaces throughout the city and admission is free.
2. In the capital, the weekend will be filled with gastronomic options. On Saturday, the Esplanada Príncipe Real welcomes Lupita's pizzeria. 3. For artisanal ice cream lovers, there's also good news: the Brera ice cream shop, inspired by the Milan neighborhood of the same name, recently opened on Rua Áurea. The menu boasts over 25 flavors, including pistachio, mascarpone with amarena, and salted caramel. The ice cream is available in cups and cones, and prices range from €3.50 to €5.50.

4. Also in Lisbon, FLIFA 2025 – Independent Book Festival takes place this weekend at Mercado de Arroios. From September 12th to 14th, the event brings together over a hundred independent publishers and bookstores, which will not only be present at the fair but also organize activities. The program includes workshops for children with writer Yara Kono (published by Planeta Tangerina) and illustrator André Letria (published by Pato Lógico); staged readings by Artistas Unidos; and a typography workshop organized by Oficina do Cego. Doors open today at 5 pm and admission is free.
5. The Jazz em Monserrate festival returns today to Monserrate Park in Sintra, with a program that "celebrates the intersection of jazz with other artistic and musical expressions." The Maria Carvalho "Margem" group, which revisits the music of José Mário Branco "in the light of contemporary jazz," opens the festivities with a concert scheduled for today at 7 pm. On Saturday, the lineup includes a concert by British violinist Dominic Ingham, and on Sunday, it's singer Maria João's turn to take the stage. Daily tickets cost €15.

6. On Saturday, Portuguese independent record label and concert promoter Lovers & Lollypop will celebrate its twentieth anniversary with a party at the Barcelos Municipal Swimming Pools. From 2 PM to 8 PM, music will be provided by bands and artists such as Lobster, Cremalheira do Apocalipse, Hetta, and La Família Gitana. Tickets cost €20.
7. The Brazilian band BaianaSystem formed in Salvador da Bahia and is known for blending genres such as samba, reggae, and electronica. This Friday, the 12th, the group will perform at Hard Club in Porto, and on Saturday they will take the stage at the Pé na Terra festival in Almancil. On Sunday, they will also perform at Monsantos Open Air in Lisbon.

Written and directed by Catarina Rôlo Salgueiro and Catarina Távora, the show tells the story of Maria Frederica and her friends, who set off "on a sonic adventure in search of courage." 10. BoCA – Contemporary Arts Biennial challenged musician Dino D'Santiago to direct an opera, which can be seen starting this Friday and running until Sunday at the CCB in Lisbon. Based on the text "Foreign Service " by Rui Catalão, and with musical direction by Martim Sousa Tavares, Adilson follows "the journey of an Afro-descendant man, born in Angola to Cape Verdean parents, who has lived in Portugal for over 40 years—without ever obtaining Portuguese citizenship." On September 19, the opera will also be shown at the Paraíso festival in Braga. Tickets for this weekend cost between €15 and €25.
