BPI welcomes experts to discuss the “Future of Water”

On February 27th, BPI will organize the 2nd edition of the “BPI Forum: The Future of Water”, an initiative that aims to discuss different areas of sustainable water resource management and the associated financial and technological challenges, bringing together experts to share knowledge and promote innovative solutions. The “BPI Forum: The Future of Water” is scheduled to take place at the Champalimaud Foundation Auditorium, in Lisbon.
The Bank's CEO, João Pedro Oliveira e Costa, will give the opening speech at the conference, while the closing speech will be given by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Emídio Sousa. The bank highlights the participation, via videoconference, of the American jurist and environmental activist Erin Brockovich.
In total, the Forum will feature four debate panels, which will address topics such as the management of excess and scarce water, the economic value of water, and sharing and investment in water.
Paulo Portas will address the role of water in the current geopolitical context.
At the event, Francisco Matos, Executive Director of BPI, will present, for the first time, the “National Water Award” to a prominent project or entity in the field of efficient water management.
BPI reveals that the speakers include mayors such as José Ribau Esteves, Mayor of Aveiro and Vice-President of ANMP and António Pina, Mayor of Olhão and President of AMAL; representatives of economic sectors and companies such as José de Melo Bandeira, Country Manager of Veolia and Member of the Board of the Water Pact, Carlos Vicente, General Director of Vitacress Portugal, Cristina Siza Vieira, Executive President of the Portuguese Hotel Association, José Pedro Salema, President of EDIA and Ana Rosas Oliveira, Executive Director of BPI; and experts such as Inês dos Santos Costa, partner at Deloitte, Maria da Conceição Cunha, Professor at the University of Coimbra, Manuela Moreira da Silva, Professor at the Higher Institute of Engineering of the University of Algarve and Miguel Gouveia, Professor at the Catholic University of Lisbon.
