He smoked cigarettes and consumed his own alcohol. Ryanair passenger sentenced

A passenger who disrupted Ryanair flight RK5593 from Edinburgh to Lanzarote this summer has been sentenced by a court. Shortly after takeoff, the man began smoking cigarettes on board and drinking his own alcohol, which is also strictly prohibited. The troublemaker also began insulting other tourists on board. "He was one of three passengers whose reprehensible behavior forced the crew to return the plane to Edinburgh, causing unnecessary disruption to the journey for six crew members and 178 passengers," the airline's press office said in a statement.
Shameful behavior on a Ryanair planeThis isn't the first time that aggressive passengers have faced consequences for their behavior. Ryanair has been particularly consistent in exacting fines from troublesome travelers. The Irish airline has just announced that it has successfully prosecuted another customer for failing to heed the on-board regulations.
A man traveling from Edinburgh to Lanzarote on July 5, 2025, caused problems from the very beginning of the flight. The tourist began his trip to the Canary Islands by smoking and drinking his own alcohol on board, then proceeded to insult passengers who criticized him. However, there were more aggressors on this flight, as Ryanair reports three people who forced the plane to return to Edinburgh.
The court ruled him guiltyUpon his return to Scotland, the man was taken to court. This time, there were no financial consequences, as the tourist received only 225 hours of community service. However, the airline welcomed the decision. "Ryanair has a strict zero-tolerance policy for passenger misconduct and will continue to take action to combat such incidents, for the benefit of the vast majority of passengers who do not disrupt flights," the statement reads.
