Big changes at Polish airports starting in March. More than just check-in tents

Port Modlin, located in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki near Warsaw, attracts thousands of travelers from the capital and surrounding areas. Soon, when tourists arrive, they'll notice significant changes. This is due to the announced renovation and the simultaneous expansion of several new routes. Space must be made for these passengers before the port expansion is completed. Check-in in temporary tents is planned.
Changes at the Warsaw-Modlin airportFly4free.pl has obtained detailed information on what to expect in Modlin. "By the end of March, a temporary membrane terminal with four additional gates will be built on the right side of the terminal. It will also include restrooms and a commercial area. The installation process itself should take no longer than a month. Then it still needs to be equipped with the necessary installations. The tender process for this will begin soon," Jacek Kowalski, the new CEO of Modlin Airport, told reporters.
He mentioned that the port is becoming increasingly crowded, so a transformation and expansion are necessary. While the work is underway, tourists will continue to travel freely from Modlin, but some will be checked in under special tents.
We're expected to see the changes as early as March 2026. The temporary check-in desks will operate for at least 30 months, until the end of summer 2028. They will occupy a similar area to the current ones – approximately 1,500-2,000 square meters. Toilets will be relocated to a container located between departures and arrivals.
Check-in during renovations. What will change?Tourists will face many surprises, but airport officials are committed to ensuring that check-in at the tents is comfortable and efficient. Furthermore, we'll soon see many positive developments.
For example, by the end of March 2026, the airport plans to increase the number of security checkpoints in the terminal from five to seven, and later this year it plans to install self-service bag drop kiosks – primarily for Ryanair customers. No other airport in Poland currently offers this facility.
Final reconstruction work in Modlin is expected to be completed in a few years. The airport authorities have committed to expanding the terminal from four to eight gates and expanding the parking bays from eight to 12 by the end of September 2027. A direct rail connection to the airport is also expected to be operational by then.
