Spanish media reported that the player received Barcelona's offer with great enthusiasm and quickly decided that the "Pride of Catalonia" was to be his new employer. He even agreed to reduce his salary to around 7-8 million euros net per season.
Barcelona will have to pay Athletic Bilbao a release clause of €58 million plus bonuses. The total amount could therefore be around €64 million.
