Tomasz Adamek announces end of career. And talks about Donald Trump. "It's not serious"
Tomasz Adamek has been living in the US for years, and recently became a grandfather for the second time. "It's all true, but I don't feel like a grandfather. I'm up and running," laughs the former light heavyweight and cruiserweight world champion and contender for the title in the royal category, when he answers the phone. And he immediately adds that we'll see him in action again. "In the spring! In boxing, of course. I think this is the last year. I still have to do something and finish. I'm 48," says Adamek.
The last time he fought was last summer with Kasjusz "Don Kasjo" Życiński and he won. - I'm still in shape! I'm healthy. I go to the sauna, I work out in the gym, I have my own equipment. I have a lot of energy, so it's impossible to sit and do nothing. I'm a bit drawn to the ring, after all I've been there my whole life. I have a good head, why not fight. I probably weigh around a hundred, maybe less. If the fight happens, I'll come to Poland to prepare - Adamek reveals.
The boxer from Gilowice also likes to comment on issues that the whole world is talking about. He did not hide the fact that he voted for Donald Trump in the American elections. - Before, it was so expensive that it was immediately obvious that he would win and rule for a long time. Europe is rebelling, but he said on American television that he is most interested in people in America, not in the world. And Europe does not like the fact that the handouts are ending. He said that the war and its financing are ending. This does not sit well with some people, but he is a businessman. He would not be a millionaire otherwise - Adamek convinces.
"There are people in the USA without papers and they are afraid"However, many accuse the new US president of siding with Vladimir Putin in talks about ending the war in Ukraine, and changing his tone. "This war is not good for anyone, but Trump will end it. I don't know on what terms, maybe they've already been agreed, we don't know," he says.
Another issue is people without residence permits who are in the US, and Trump has announced that he will want to deport them. Adamek has his own opinion on this as well. "There are people in the US without papers and they are afraid. There are quite a few of them. But if someone has been here for ten or fifteen years and hasn't figured it out, then that's not serious either. You go, pay and arrange legal residence. That's how it works. I know people who have taken care of it, but also those who have been in America illegally for many years. That's also a bit of a non-serious thing," says Adamek, who has an American passport himself.
