Three matches - three wins. Polish women stood out in Serie A
The 25th round of Serie A women's volleyball has been completed in Italy. Two Polish women and the coach of the white and red team have matches left to play.
It was the penultimate round of the regular season of the Italian league and even before it started it was known that apart from Joanna Wołosz and Martyna Łukasik, we would only have one more "Polish" accent in the fight for the Scudetto.
Malwina Smarzek lost her chances at the top eight, even if Wash4Green Pinerolo won the last two matches, it would lack the points to "push" any of the other teams out of it. However, the Polish attacking team did not lack the will to win, as evidenced by the fact that they defeated Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri'76 3:1 (25:20, 25:18, 26:28, 25:16). Smarzek scored 22 points in this match, two of which were on serve, and added to that a 45% effectiveness in attack.
Aleksandra Gryka, whose team has also lost its chance of advancing to the Serie A play-offs, was also happy about the victory. However, her Bartoccini-Mc Restauri Perugia proved to be better than CDA Volley Talmassons FVG, winning 3:0 (25:21, 25:21, 25:19). The Polish middle blocker appeared on the court for the first time in the second set, coming out as the first six in the third set. She finished the match with nine points, four of which were scored by blocking, and she recorded an attacking efficiency of 71%.
The most demanding match was played by Numia Vero Volley Milano, which had already secured its place in the Serie A play-off phase. The team led by coach Stefano Lavarini faced the current vice-champion of Italy, Savino Del Bene Scandicci, which they defeated only with a score of 3:2 (25:22, 19:25, 25:21, 21:25, 15:11).
