For example, the national team player Nicola Zalewski, still a player of the Roman club, but currently on loan to Milan, more specifically to Inter. In the past, Roma have also had players such as Wojciech Szczęsny, Łukasz Skorupski, Jordan Majchrzak, and going even further back – Zbigniew Boniek .
Pope Leo XIV will certainly have the opportunity to visit the Stadio Olimpico, located in the capital of Italy, right under his nose. The question is, however, whether the Holy Father will find time for such sporting duties, especially at the beginning of his pontificate. There are serious doubts here.
It is worth adding that Leo XIV's predecessor, Pope Francis, was a great fan of sports, especially football, which he played in his youth. He supported San Lorenzo de Almagro from Buenos Aires until the end of his life. He even had a membership card and paid club dues. After Pope Francis passed away, the president of the aforementioned San Lorenzo club announced a special declaration.
Marcelo Moretti wrote an open letter to the media following the death of their most famous fan, announcing that a new stadium would be built named after "Pope Francis".
