Mourinho's speech did not please Galatasaray's management, who issued a statement. The club accused the coach of racism.

"We hereby formally declare our intention to initiate criminal proceedings in relation to the racist remarks made by Jose Mourinho and in this regard we will lodge formal complaints with UEFA and FIFA. We will also closely monitor the position taken by Fenerbahçe - an institution which claims to uphold "exemplary moral values" - in response to the reprehensible conduct of their coach," it added.
