Legia on top in the Polish Cup hit!

Legia Warsaw advanced to the semi-finals of the Polish Cup. The team led by Goncalo Feio won 3-1, turning the tables on Jagiellonia Białystok with two goals from Ryoya Morishita and one from Jan Ziółkowski. The goal for the current Polish champions was scored by Jarosław Kubicki.
The hosts opened the match better. Marc Gual was particularly active, first shooting from a distance, and a moment later from the right side of the penalty area. The first shot was confidently caught by Sławomir Abramowicz, while the second was slightly off target. In the 10th minute, Kacper Chodyna received a great pass from the Spaniard from his own half. The midfielder found himself one-on-one with the "Jaga" goalkeeper, waited a long time to make a decision, but eventually calmly placed the ball in the net. However, the goal was not recognized, because Chodyna had previously been offside.

Then, the initiative was taken over by coach Adrian Siemieniec's players. Afimico Pululu, who was at one point the main architect of the Białystok team's actions, looked great in the play. However, the Polish champions lacked the final pass to create a good situation. This came after two quarters of the game. Jagiellonia built a great combination action. The ball passed like a string from the left to the right, from where Miki Villar put the ball out at 11 meters. Jarosław Kubicki finished everything off confidently, opening the score of the match.
A moment after the resumption of play, Bartosz Kapustka fired a dangerous shot. The captain of the "Army" received a pass from Guala in front of the penalty area, but hit the goalpost guarded by Abramowicz. Then Jagiellonia pressed again. Villar passed to Pululu twice. However, nothing came of both situations. In the first, the Englishman was in a difficult position, under pressure from a defender, and in the second, Kapustka got ahead of him, who was also fouled.
Just before the break, the team led by Feio had a chance to equalize. On the right wing, the new acquisition of the capital club - Ilja Szkurin - was launched, and crossed into the penalty area. With the ball in the air, Norbert Wojtuszek missed it, and it fell straight to the feet of Ryoya Morishita. The Japanese tried a shot from the first, but he covered the ball unfairly and missed by the left post. Finally, referee Piotr Lasyk invited the players to the locker room with "Jaga" in the lead.
In the second half, Legia was the first to get the ball rolling. Ruben Vinagre's shot from outside the "16" was off target, and Szkurin was close to scoring. In the 53rd minute, Jan Ziółkowski converted Morishita's cross into the goal with a header, equalizing the score. Right after that, there was a commotion in the "Military" penalty area, but the result did not change. For a long time, the competition was without any specifics on either side. In the 69th minute, Paweł Wszołek shot from a sharp angle, but his attempt was blocked by the Białystok defenders.
In the 74th minute, the referee indicated "lime". Oskar Pietuszewski was allegedly fouled by Wszołek. VAR watched the situation for a long time, until Lasyk himself went to the screen. In the meantime, there was a push and shove on the sideline. Wszołek and Mateusz Skrzypczak received yellow cards. The referee returned to analyzing the potential penalty, and after watching the replays, he changed his decision.
Five minutes before the end of regular time, Feio's team struck a blow. Kapustka made a run from the right and passed to Wojciech Urbański. The young striker's shot was blocked, but the ball ended up in Morishita's possession. The Japanese player put the Jaga defender through and, after Abramowicz's gloves, put the ball into the net.
In the ninth minute of added time, Morishita scored for the second time. The midfielder struck from the left, establishing the result of the match. Legia thus advanced to the semi-finals of the Polish Cup. Earlier, Ruch Chorzów and Pogoń Szczecin had entered the top four of the competition. Polonia Warszawa will fight for the last place with Puszcza Niepołomice.
Next week (March 6), Legia Warsaw and Jagiellonia Białystok will compete in the 1/8 finals of the Conference League. The "military" will face the Norwegian Molde, while the current Polish champions will play the Belgian Cercle Brugge. Both matches will be broadcast on Polsat sports channels.
