Here is the favorite to take over Legia Warsaw! First details have appeared

We have most likely learned the name of the new coach of Legia Warsaw. Much indicates that it will be Alexey Shpilewski. The Belarusian was most recently in charge of Cypriot Aris Limassol.

The news on this topic was provided on the X platform by the usually well-informed user FootballScout. Szpilewski still has to agree on the last details of the contract. If the 37-year-old finally accepts Legia's offer, he should soon be announced as the new coach of the capital team. Interestingly, another candidate to lead Legia was Bartosz Grzelak. The Swedish coach of Polish origins most recently worked at the Hungarian Ujpest FC.

Let us recall that Szpilewski has been linked with working in several Polish clubs in the past. The coach, born in Minsk, has spent a significant part of his life in Germany. He is a graduate of VfB Stuttgart, where he ended his career prematurely in 2006. The reason was a serious injury. Then he began his adventure with "coaching".

He worked with youth teams in Stuttgart and RB Leipzig, among others. At senior level, he has managed Dynamo Brest, Kairat Almaty, Erzgebirge Aue and Aris Limassol. He enjoyed his greatest successes in Almaty and Limassol, where he won the Kazakhstan and Cypriot championships, respectively. He also has the Cyprus Cup to his name.

Aris finished the previous season under his management in second place in the Cyprus League table. The championship was won by Pafos FC, who beat Szpilewski's team by one point. The Belarusian's charges in the Cypriot club were Miłosz Matysik and Karol Struski.

It is highly probable that we will have to wait for the official announcement of the new Legia coach for now. There is speculation that it could happen at the beginning of next week. The team from the capital is looking for a new coach after Goncalo Feio left the club at the end of the season. Legia, under the Portuguese, won the Polish Cup and reached the quarter-finals of the Conference League, but disappointed in the league. In the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, it was only placed fifth.
