Briton first leader of Rally Portugal. Minimal differences at the front
The spectacular Figueira da Foz Super Special Stage, held in front of a large crowd of fans, saw the first leader emerge, but the differences in the leaders on the spectacular but short route were minimal. The second and third riders at the finish of Special Stage 1 – Frenchman Sebastien Ogier (Toyota) and Estonian Ott Tanak (Hyundai) lost to the winner by just 0.2 seconds each.
Kajetan Kajetanowicz (Toyota Yaris) was classified 16th overall and second in the WRC2 Challenger class. The Polish driver, whose co-driver is Maciej Szczepaniak, lost 6.6 seconds to Evans.
On the second day of the rally, on Friday, 10 special stages are planned. The event will end on Sunday.
