Nvidia CEO on Trade War: Exclusion from Chinese Market Would Be a Huge Loss

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said China's AI market is likely to be worth about $50 billion in the next two to three years, and losing it would be a "huge loss."

Huang said the ability to sell to China would bring back revenue, taxes and “create a lot of jobs here in the United States.” “We just have to stay flexible,” he said.

Nvidia is a leading supplier of graphics processing units (GPUs), which have fueled the artificial intelligence boom and raised the company's market capitalization to almost $3 trillion, CNBC reminds.

Last month, the Trump administration restricted shipments of Nvidia’s H20 chips to China . That technology, which is related to the Hopper chips used in the rest of the world, was developed to comply with previous U.S. export restrictions.

Nvidia shares have fallen about 15% this year after nearly tripling in 2023. The company is due to report financial results on May 28. Analysts are expecting revenue to rise 65% from a year earlier to $43.1 billion.

“The world is hungry now, eager to engage in AI,” Huang said. “Let’s let American AI overtake everyone else now.”
