Why do they remember Włodzimierz Dzieduszycki in the Podkarpacie region?
On June 23 at 10 a.m., awards will be presented in the Włodzimierz Dzieduszycki Historical and Natural History Competition at the Dzieduszycki Palace in Zarzecze. The competition, which focused on birds, was attended by 274 students from Subcarpathia and Lviv Oblast, who submitted works in three categories: art, photography, and essay.
Who was Włodzimierz DzieduszyckiWłodzimierz Dzieduszycki was born on 22 June 1825 in Jaryszów in Podolia into a landed gentry family. He was the son of Józef Kalasanty and Paulina née Działyńska. He was an ornithologist and the author of the work "Spis ptak okolic Krystynopola i Sokal nad Bugiem". He founded the Dzieduszycki Nature Museum in Lviv , which in September 1880, on the occasion of the visit of Franz Joseph I in Galicia, he donated for public purposes. He also established the first nature reserve in Polish lands - Pamiątka Pieniacka. It covered approx. 22 ha of an old beech forest near Złoczów. He promoted the development of crafts, established schools (including pottery schools), and organized exhibitions promoting folk art. In 1858, he made the Poturzycka Library available to readers - its resources were used by young people, scientists and writers.
During the January Uprising, he supported conspiratorial activities as well as artists, including Artur Grottger, Juliusz Kossak, Adam Chmielowski. He collected works by outstanding artists, including Artur Grottger, Jan Matejko, Franciszek Tepa. In 1894, he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Lviv. He was a member of parliament and marshal of the Galician National Sejm, as well as a member of the House of Lords in Vienna. He died on September 18, 1899 in Poturzyca. He was buried in the family crypt under the church of St. Michael the Archangel in Zarzecze.

It will also carry out conservation work in the All Saints Church in Lviv. It is also implementing a conservation project of books from the Poturzycka Library, which was founded in the early 19th century by Józef Kalasanty Dzieduszycki. The library had over 50 thousand manuscripts, including those by Juliusz Słowacki, Jan Długosz .
