Among other things, it allows for a faster start to treatment. With the National Health Fund (NFZ), waiting times can be as long as several months, while rehabilitation through the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) requires a wait of several to a maximum of a dozen weeks. Furthermore, with the ZUS, treatment is completely free and is intended to restore the ability to work. Therefore, retired seniors are not eligible. The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) is allocating increasing funds for this purpose – the FUS Financial Plan for 2024 stipulated that over PLN 321 million was allocated for disability prevention, while this year's FUS Financial Plan assumes over PLN 414 million.
