Night fire in 11-story block in Rzeszow. 250 people evacuated, 14-year-old girl dies

A fire broke out on Wednesday evening in a block of flats on Popiełuszki Street in Rzeszów. The fire broke out on the fourth floor of an 11-storey building. Around 250 residents were evacuated from all three staircases of the building. As the spokesman for the State Fire Service in Rzeszów, Senior Captain Jan Czerwonka, told RMF FM, the fire was already well-developed when the firefighters arrived. The building was heavily smoked, some residents left the block on their own, others were helped by firefighters due to the smoke.
