Krzysztof Adam Kowalczyk: How to target tariffs and get back at Trump?

A few weeks ago, President Donald Trump managed to persuade NATO allies to increase defense spending to 5 percent of GDP. And rightly so, because effectively deterring an aggressor from the Kremlin is crucial for all of us in Europe.

However, at the end of this week, Donald Trump decided to make this ambitious and financially demanding task more difficult. Despite ongoing US-EU trade negotiations, he announced a 30% tariff on goods imported into the US from the European Union, starting August 1st. In other words, he once again threatened to ignite a trade war with Europe.
