It is known who will write the scripts for the four Beatles films

The ambitious project of creating four films - one about each member of the legendary group The Beatles has found its screenwriters. It was known that Sam Mendes would direct the aforementioned productions. Now it has been announced that they will be written by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan and Jack Thorne.

As Deadline reports, the task of writing the scripts for four films about the musicians of the group The Beatles will be undertaken by decorated professionals. Peter Straughan has an Oscar on his account for the script "Conclave". Jack Thorne ("Coming of Age") and Jez Butterworth ("Spectre") are winners of Tony Awards, and Thorne additionally received a BAFTA. And these are only the most significant awards of the mentioned screenwriters.

Straughan, Thorne and Butterworth have a unique opportunity to fully exploit the rights to the Beatles' story and music. Never before have such rights been granted for a feature film. It provides a full and honest account of the lives and careers of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

Each of the four announced films will tell the story of The Beatles through the eyes of one musician. The whole will make up the full story of the Liverpool foursome. The director of all the films will be the author of "American Beauty" and "1917" - Sam Mendes. The musicians will play: Harris Dickinson (Lennon), Barry Keoghan (Starr), Paul Mescal (McCartney) and Joseph Quinn (Harrison) . The premiere of the films has been announced for April 2028.

The Beatles films are among the projects that the three screenwriters assigned to write them are working on. Filming is currently underway on the third installment of "Enola Holmes" and a TV adaptation of "Lord of the Flies," both written by Thorne. Straughan co-wrote the upcoming "Crime 101," about a jewel thief who operates by a ten-step code of perfect theft. Butterworth wrote the script for "Blood Runs Coal," which is set to star Cillian Murphy.
