New plenipotentiary for the National Cardiovascular Diseases Program

The Minister of Health has appointed a new plenipotentiary for the National Cardiovascular Diseases Program. Professor Piotr Dobrowolski replaced Professor Adam Witkowski in this position. The Ministry has also abolished the position of the Minister of Health's plenipotentiary for preventive healthcare and inter-ministerial cooperation in this area.
The following was published in the official journal of the Minister of Health:
- Order repealing the order on the appointment of the Plenipotentiary of the Minister of Health for health prevention and inter-ministerial cooperation in this regard
- Order amending the order on the appointment of the Plenipotentiary of the Minister of Health for the National Cardiovascular Diseases Programme for 2022-2032
The former has abolished the position of plenipotentiary for health prevention and inter-ministerial cooperation in this area, established in February 2024. This position was held by Damian Węgrzyński, director of Izabela Leszczyna's parliamentary office.
The second change was the plenipotentiary for the National Cardiovascular Diseases Program. Professor Piotr Dobrowolski was appointed, replacing Professor Adam Witkowski.
As a reminder, the tasks of the representative include, among others:
- evaluation of activities carried out in the field of cardiovascular diseases
- coordination of the preparation and implementation of the National Cardiovascular Diseases Program for 2022-2032
- monitoring the effects of the Program implementation, including the implementation of the National Cardiology Network
- coordinating the preparation of annual schedules for the implementation of the Programme, taking into account the division of financial resources between individual areas and activities.
Professor Dobrowolski is affiliated with the National Institute of Cardiology. He is the head of the Independent Lipid Clinic and deputy head of the Department of Epidemiology, Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, and Health Promotion at the National Institute of Cardiology (NIKard). He is also an active member of Polish and European scientific societies, with recognized scientific achievements, and the author or co-author of numerous guidelines and expert position papers in cardiology. He is involved in the implementation of tasks related to the prevention of circulatory system diseases and cardiac care as part of the National Cardiovascular Diseases Program and in cooperation with the Ministry of Health.
