Key guidelines for breast cancer clinicians updated. Adapted from the US.

- A team of experts led by Prof. Jacek Jassem has completed updating the diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines for breast cancer.
- The document is an adaptation of American recommendations to the realities of the Polish healthcare system. It was created in collaboration with the National Institute of Oncology and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).
- Its aim is to increase the chances of Polish patients achieving the best possible treatment results.
The updated diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines for breast cancer are the result of months of work by an interdisciplinary team in collaboration with representatives from the American side. The document complies with international standards and will also be useful in the daily work of physicians in Poland .
The changes include primarily:
- new reimbursed drugs and procedures,
- updating scientific data,
- adaptation to national clinical standards.

This approach allows for maintaining the highest standards of oncological care while taking into account the specificity and capabilities of the Polish healthcare system.
Work on updating the guidelines was carried out with the participation of the National Monitoring Centre (KOM), which operates within the NIO-PIB and coordinates the process of creating and updating the guidelines in accordance with the provisions of the Act on the National Oncology Network.
In accordance with the adopted procedure, documents developed as part of the KOM activities are submitted to the National Oncology Council, which reviews them and presents them to the Ministry of Health as a basis for updating or developing key recommendations based on them, announced by way of an announcement.
The process of updating the guidelines, under an agreement between NIO-PIB and NCCN, is ongoing. The development of NCCN guidelines is a dynamic and ongoing process, based on systematic analysis of the latest, highest-quality scientific evidence and consensus recommendations from a multidisciplinary team of oncology experts. These guidelines are among the most detailed and frequently updated clinical guidelines in medicine.
