The Ministry of Health is expanding the pool of reimbursed vaccinations available at pharmacies. Starting Monday, August 25th, pharmacists will vaccinate against pertussis, HPV, tetanus, shingles, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and RSV, among others. Vaccination is free, and vaccines are available free of charge for selected patient groups.
- In pharmacies you can get vaccinated with up to 11 vaccines for free
- Funding covered vaccinations against COVID-19, influenza, tick-borne encephalitis, diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis.
- Vaccination will be reimbursed, but some patients will still have to pay for the preparations themselves.
From Monday, August 25, pharmacies will reimburse vaccinations against Covid-19, autumn-winter flu, tick-borne encephalitis, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, human papillomavirus (HPV), pneumococci, shingles, measles, mumps, rubella, acute poliomyelitis, hepatitis A or hepatitis B, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections.
This assumes an announcement by the Minister of Health on the list of preventive vaccinations carried out in pharmacies, which may be fully or partially financed from public funds.
"The Ministry of Health and the National Health Fund have decided to standardize payments for vaccinations in pharmacies. They will be free for everyone. Vaccination costs will be reimbursed, but some patients will still have to purchase the vaccines themselves, as reimbursement is available only to selected groups," Dr. Wojciech Rożdżeński from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, a specialist in medical and pharmaceutical law, told PAP.
Currently, pharmacies offer free vaccinations and vaccines for COVID-19. However, there are currently no vaccines available for this disease, and vaccinations are not available until new ones are available. The Ministry of Health plans to resume COVID-19 vaccinations at the end of September.
Who doesn't have to pay for the vaccine?People aged 65 and over currently do not have to pay for the flu vaccine and the pneumococcal vaccine administered at a pharmacy during the autumn/winter season.
Seniors are also entitled to free flu and pneumococcal vaccines if they are at increased risk of pneumococcal disease.
A list of pharmacies where you can get vaccinated is available on the website patient.gov.pl. Importantly, only people over 18 years of age can get vaccinated at pharmacies.
