Volkswagen Discovers Manufacturing Defect. 39,000 Golfs Recalled

A problem with seat belts has been detected in over 39,000 Volkswagen Golfs, reports Auto Świat. Owners of the newest models manufactured in 2025 must report them to service centers. In Poland, they were primarily registered by companies.

The affected vehicles were the eighth-generation Volkswagen Golf and Golf Variant (station wagon). In total, the fault affects over 39,000 vehicles worldwide, manufactured between February 9 and May 24, 2025.
As the German Federal Motor Transport Authority clarifies, the seat belt anchorage on the front passenger seat was incorrectly installed in the vehicles, which could significantly reduce its effectiveness in the event of an accident.
Owners of affected cars will be informed by the manufacturer to immediately contact an authorized service station, where mechanics will replace the seat belt.
In Poland, new Volkswagen Golfs are popular primarily with companies registering their cars using the National Business Registry Number (REGON) . According to data from the Polish Automotive Industry Association, 3,007 Golfs were registered in Poland in the first seven months of 2025, placing them 13th in the popularity ranking.
In Europe, the Golf is currently the fifth most popular model . In the first half of 2025, this iconic model found over 104,000 buyers.
In Poland, the Golf is one of the two most popular models in Polish dealerships . According to data from the Samar Automotive Market Research Institute, 13,196 used Golfs have been imported to Poland since the beginning of 2025 – only eight fewer than the most popular model, the Opel Astra. However, used cars reach Poland on average more than 12 years after their production.
