Italian bank listed on WSE beats earnings forecasts. This is the 17th quarter with profit growth

Italy’s UniCredit Bank reported revenues of EUR 6.5 billion in the first quarter of 2025 , up 2.8% year-on-year.
Net profit increased by 8% to EUR 2.8 billion, a positive result was achieved in all markets where the bank operates directly or through financial subsidiaries. This is the 17th quarter with an increase in profit .
Although the market environment is more complex than we previously assumed and the situation is still uncertain, it can already be assumed that the financial forecasts for this year will be exceeded.
According to the adopted strategy, UniCredit was to achieve a net profit of EUR 10 billion in 2027, meanwhile, many indications are that it will happen this year. For comparison, in 2024, net profit amounted to EUR 9.3 billion.
In March this year, UniCredit completed the acquisition of Polish online bank Aion Bank, operating under a Belgian banking license, and financial services company Vodeno for EUR 367 million .
As reported, on the occasion of finalizing this transaction, the Italians want to create a pan-European bank based on new assets, which in the first stage of its activity will gain 2.5 million customers. 200 million euros are to be invested in the project.
The company's main shareholders are Capital Research and Management Company (8.2%) and Aabar Luxembourg (7.20%). The company has been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2007.
