1800 PLN per month for an apartment for everyone. Payments have started

• From July 1, uniformed services officers receive a new housing allowance ranging from PLN 900 to PLN 1,800 per month.
• The benefit, modeled on the military system, can be used for things like renting an apartment or repaying a loan.
• The aim of the new solution is to improve the living conditions of uniformed services and retain experienced officers in service.

A new housing allowance for uniformed services is coming. Its amount ranges from PLN 900 to PLN 1,800. The solution is based on the system in force in the Polish Armed Forces and will cover officers:

• Police,
• Border Guard,
• State Fire Service,
• State Protection Services.

The reform comes into force on 1 July.

The government claims that the new benefits are intended to provide officers with greater flexibility and better adjustment of their housing conditions to their needs. They will be able to use one of four forms of support:

• housing benefit,
• allocation of residential premises,
• allocation of temporary accommodation,
• a place in a boarding school or boarding lodgings.

Housing benefits will be paid out monthly from July 1. Their amount will depend on the location and will range from PLN 900 to PLN 1,800 per month. The money will be tax-free, and officers will be able to use the funds for things like renting a property or paying off a mortgage.

The current system, as we read in the press release, did not keep up with reality and was limited to small additions that did not meet the real needs of officers.

Together with the minister, after consultations with police officers and trade unions, we have developed a solution that can significantly improve the financial situation of officers in a short time. A key step is to equalize their status in terms of housing benefits with the status of soldiers of the Polish Army - said Prime Minister Donald Tusk

The new solution is intended to counteract the problem of leaving the police.
