Beatles' Sons Join Forces on New Song. Can They Repeat Their Fathers' Success?

"Rip off" is the title of the new single, which is the result of the collaboration between Sean Ono Lennon, James McCartney and Zak Starkey (son of Ringo Starr). Although they are said to be the new generation of Beatles, the musicians do not intend to start a band like their fathers.
Ringo Starr's son Zak Starkey announced a new song titled "Rip Off." In a recent Instagram post, the drummer shared a preview of the upcoming song, which is set to debut soon. The song was created by the alternative rock band Mantra of the Cosmos, of which Starkey is a member. For "Rip Off," Sean Ono Lennon and James McCartney provided vocals for the group.
In 2024, Lennon and McCartney's sons had the opportunity to work on a joint song "Primrose Hill" . Meanwhile, "Rip Off" is the first song to combine three descendants of the legendary musicians.
The question is whether the single could turn into a slightly larger project. And whether - like their fathers - Sean, James and Zak will form a joint band. The idea of creating a " new generation of Beatles" has been talked about for some time.
In 2012, James McCartney told the BBC that "there were considerations of forming a supergroup", consisting of himself, Sean, Zak and Dhani (George Harrison's son - ed.). However, until now each artist preferred to follow their own musical path.
In a conversation with The Telegraph a few days ago, Starkey stressed that his band, Mantra of the Cosmos, will retain its current character and will not be Beatles 2.0. Mantra already has an all-star line-up, which, in addition to Ringo Starr's son, includes former Oasis bassist Andrew Bell and former members of the Happy Mondays - vocalist Shaun Ryder and Mark "Bez" Berry.
