Will the city find money for a comprehensive renovation of the pedestrian and bicycle bridge? [PHOTOS]

The 138-meter-long suspended pedestrian and bicycle bridge connected the Józef Piłsudski Coast with the John Paul II Coast on August 24, 2015, a decade ago. The complex technical operation was witnessed by hundreds of residents of Myślenice, as well as local government authorities from the province and city. It is part of the "Cycling Routes in Eastern Poland" program, and its construction cost nearly PLN 4.9 million. The footbridge's structure consists of a 38-meter-high steel pylon with two wooden girders (serving as balustrades) measuring 155 cm high and 138 m long, braced with a steel grid. Its deck and interior cladding are made of composite wood. While weather-resistant, the passage of time and less-than-kind weather do their job. Add to this the intense use, as this element was added to a space on the San River that is actively used for recreation, but it also serves as a great shortcut to the Old Town, which Myślenice residents readily utilize. It's no wonder that over the years, the footbridge is beginning to show signs of wear and tear and requires periodic renovation and maintenance. This work has been carried out, among others, by: in the summer of 2023. Any damage to the surface was repaired and replaced with new planks. This is now visible in places where the planks differ in color. Unfortunately, new cracks appear periodically. Furthermore, the scratched paint on the railings detracts from the overall aesthetic appeal of the crossing. The material from which the footbridge is constructed is simply susceptible to weathering, which was perhaps to be expected, and subsequent maintenance is now a necessity...
