Travel agencies to Turkish hoteliers: Don't spoil Turkey with prices
In turn, Gerald Kassner from Schauinsland warned against building hotels in the third row from the sea - this could cause some beaches to become crowded, which would have an adverse effect on the guests' experience.
The biggest challenge for him, however, is the constant price increases by hotel owners during the peak season. Kassner notes that while bookings for May, June and September are at a very good level, there is a slight decrease in July and August compared to the same period last year. This is the result of the high prices that hoteliers demand from tour operators.
Egypt, on the other hand, is developing very dynamically as a destination, and what's more, it can boast modern hotel complexes, large water parks and good service. "It's a definite competitor," Kassner points out.

Koray Cavdir, head of Coral Travel and Ferien Touristik in Germany, agreed with this opinion. He himself does not expect an increase in holiday sales in Turkey, on a year-round basis. "The pre-season period, which starts in April, has excellent results," he reports. Meanwhile, there are no reservations for the summer, usually made by families, which is mainly due to high prices. Although sales at Coral Travel are higher than a year ago, this is partly the result of the collapse of the FTI travel agency in June 2024 .
Customers want to fly on vacation in luxuryUgur also points out another issue. Although there are many excellent five-star hotels in Turkey, there is a lack of five-star flights. The exception is those offered by Turkish Airlines. "Business class on Sun Express would be useful," he says. Kassner adds that the first step could be premium economy class.
