There haven't been such crowds here for a long time! Krupówki experienced a real siege

Zakopane has been a favorite place for Poles for years, and not only when it comes to going on holidays or vacations, but also for long weekends. Even before this year's "June rush" began, experts predicted that Podhale would be heavily besieged. However, what Krupówki looked like on Thursday, June 19, probably exceeded the wildest expectations.

There have never been such crowds here! On Corpus Christi, Krupówki experienced a real siege

The June long weekend began on Thursday, June 19. That day, real crowds could be seen on Krupówki. The warm and sunny weather was conducive to walks. A huge surge occurred when the Corpus Christi procession set off down the main and most recognizable street of Zakopane.

The route led from the Tatra Parish of the Holy Cross to the Sanctuary of the Holy Family. Photos and recordings of the event have appeared on the web. They show a river of people flowing down Krupówki.

What particularly attracts attention in the crowd are the beautiful highlander costumes — white blouses, patterned skirts, red beads and black felt hats.

"Corpus Christi in Zakopane - the beauty of faith, tradition and the highlander spirit..." - wrote on social media the deputy mayor of Zakopane, Iwona Grzebyk-Dulak. "In Podhale, you can feel the uniqueness of each holiday. I am glad that I can experience it personally," she added.

After the procession, Krupówki did not empty out. Crowds of tourists and locals still moved along the promenade that runs through the city center.

It is possible that Zakopane will be crowded throughout the long weekend. Especially since, according to weather forecasters, the weather there is supposed to remain sunny and warm.
